Last February, Nicole Kazimer brought the Hikyoga experience she created to San Diego. High above the ocean at Torrey Pines new friendships were made as we meandered down to the water’s edge. This weekend, one of my dear friends and yogi, Taimi Schepis is bringing Hikyoga to San Diego’s world-famous Kate Sessions park and hiking trails. Inspired by Nicole’s complement of yoga with nature, Taimi decided San Diegans should be able to experience it on the regular too!

Taimi Schepis: Hikyoga is awesome for everyone because it allows you to be more present as you connect yoga, nature and clarity of mind.
GE: We’ll be incorporating essential oils into our day, how can this optimize our experience?
Using essential oils during the practice adds another therapeutic layer that promotes alertness, connection and feeling uplifted. Rubbing Frankincense on the bottom of the feet can encourage grounding and surrendering to the earth during savasana.
Savasana has so many health benefits, such as curing insomnia, calming the mind, stimulating blood circulation and relaxing the whole body…. so add on the sensation of your teacher massaging a soothing smelling oil while in this pose, and pure bliss has been created for the yogi.
TS: My favorite benefit of being connected to nature through Hikyoga is the ability to connect with the beauty that San Diego has to offer while practicing vinyasa yoga. It allows me to discover new places in San Diego and share my adventures while meeting and connecting with people.
