  1. If you are in the plain old west, none of your highlighted crops are available yet, except possibly kale. Here, the menu is winter squash, cauliflower, spinach, carrots, cabbage and spring onions. Dates are available at the Farmers’ Market, but otherwise it’s all citrus fruit and cold-storage apples.
