A N T H R O P O S O P H Y

Founded by Rudolf Steiner, this philosophy suggests the existence of an objective, intellectually comprehensible spiritual world. Inner development aims at cultivating perceptive intuition free of sensory experience much like the natural sciences investigating the physical world. Anthroposophy involves areas of socio-cultural development such as agriculture, special education and medicine.

B I O D Y N A M I C

A method of organic farming emphasizing the harmonization of soil, plants and animals. Much like organic farming principles, balancing environmental microbiology through safe and sustainable practices is the aim of this practice. The biodynamic model of farming is one that reflects the possibilities of true societal interconnectedness demonstrated through the integration, health and well-being of crops, livestock and soil maintenance, recycling of nutrients and the farmer/gardener.

C S A  aka  C O M M U N I T Y  S U P P O R T E D  A G R I C U L T U R E

Originally conceived in Germany and Japan, C S As exist to supply ethically grown produce to local communities. While the benefits of C S As are countless, the more noteworthy to mention are that they keep money in our local economic systems, reduce waste and production of plastics by forgoing the packaging commercial foods are wrapped in, yield more nutrient dense foods for consumption (because they aren’t shipped and generally picked the same day they are delivered), they reduce the need for large farm mono-cropping and avoid soil nutrient deprivation and because they bring people closer together within their communities. An environmentally ethical method of farming concentrating on crop rotation, the use of nutrient-dense compost or manure and natural pest control.

… is the capacity for human endurance through responsible use of resources. A sustainable lifestyle emphasizes the relationships between care for and protection of the environment in such a way that promotes biodiversity ensuring long-term well-being. Societal interconnectedness can assist in building awareness of how ecosystems evolve and thrive.
